Orthodoxy in the light ...

Thinking about this post of Hannah's about her being told she's a hippie because she gets overwhelmed by the joys of living and God's creation, I came across this quote by Elder Porphyrios:
Christ is our Friend, our Brother; He is whatever is beautiful and good...
Christ is joy, life, light, the true light, which makes man glad, makes him fly,
makes him see all things ...

Sounds like another hippie to me. ;-)

If that's a hippie... guess I'm one too! But I don't have any dredlocks or a phat bag of you know what to stone myself on. Does that still count?

Probably. The best definition of a hippie would be someone who is so guileless and has such perfect simplicity and peace that they are like Eden dwellers before the fall.

The folks that claimed such innocence in the 60's and 70's were a bit of a disappointment. I think that era had a high baloney factor that wore a pretty Peter Max mask.

But I think there are people like that. They're just very rare.

"I think there are people like that."

Meaning the truly innocent ones, not the pretenders.
